With its vibrant yet compact old town, Málaga is an ideal walking city. But it is also well served by an extensive and efficient bus network, which runs from 06:45 to 23:00. Most buses can be caught from Alameda Principal in the centre of town. A single costs €0.85. For €5.70 you can buy the “Multitravel” ticket, which allows you 10 trips. There are also 3 night buses to help you home after a night out. The bus station is next to the rail station on Paseo de los Tilos. There are ten daily buses to Granada (2 hours), eight to Seville (2½ hours) and Almería (3½ hours). The train station is at Explanada de la Estación, 15 minutes’ walk from the centre. There are five daily direct trains to Seville (2½ hours) and nine daily to Córdoba (2 hours 20 minutes).
Málaga taxis are identifiable by being white with a blue diagonal stripe on the front doors and a green light with the numbers 1-2-3 on the roof. If the green light is on or there is a “libre” sign in the windscreen it is picking up fares. The pricing system is complicated, but expect to pay around €5 travelling anywhere within Málaga city
